What we, the human species call our own, begins and ends with the wild. Intimately, interminably, inexorably... the future survival of the human species depends on not just coexistence, but our understanding, support and efforts at conservation.
The Better Photography Wildlife India Photography Awards (WIPA 2017) have been initiated with this in mind.
WIPA has an open theme across genres and types of wildlife photography. Only photographs of wildlife inhabiting India are eligible for the awards. The Jury will consist of some of India’s most renowned wildlife photographers.

WIPA 2017 Emerging Photographer Award
This is a separate award for photographers of under 28 years of age.
Participation is on the basis of submission of a portfolio.
The winner will be awarded a fully paid admission into the 7-day Wildlife Photography Masterclass in Kenya.
The Wildlife India Forum: A symposium on Indian wildlife conservation and photography, where the final awards shall be announced, along with a special coffee-table book.
The Best of Indian Wildlife Coffee-Table Book: An annually published book showcasing the best images from the Awards. All proceeds from the sale of this book shall go to an active, on-field wildlife conservation effort.
Kenya Wildlife Photography Masterclass: The top two winning entries shall win the opportunity to attend an exclusive wildlife photography masterclass in Kenya. To discover the magical world of Kenya, visit #KenyaKalling
Better Photography is India’s most widely read magazine on the art and practice of photography.
