PICTURESQUE 2017 is an incredible opportunity for photographers to exhibit their talent across 12 varying categories. Winners and runners-up selected from each of these categories will be awarded Cash Prizes. The Grand Prize winners will also have their photographs published in Konica Minolta’s annual calendar for 2018. Participants can submit their photographs to as many categories as they like, but must limit their entries to three images under each category.

How do I participate in the contest?
Participating in the contest is easy. If you have not registered before, create your account by registering yourself. Select the theme in which you would like to submit your entry.
For photographers... Simply upload your entry into the contest under the relevant theme.
When can I enter the competition?
You can start uploading your entries right away. The last date for submitting entries for Picturesque 2017 is 15 November 2017.
Does it cost anything to enter the competition?
There is absolutely no entry fee. Better photography would like to ensure that there is an equal chance for everyone in India to participate and win.
How big should my photographs be?
Your digital image files should be jpeg files that have a minimum resolution of 2000 pixels on the shorter side and the file size should not exceed 5mb.
I don't currently read or subscribe to Better Photography magazine. Can I still enter?
Yes, of course!
I'm an Indian citizen living abroad. Can I still participate?
Unfortunately the competition is only open to individuals residing in india.
I’m a foreign national living in India. Can I still participate?
Yes, the contest is open to anyone residing in India. However, all nominees and winners will be asked to provide a valid proof of residence. Entrants must ensure that they are able to provide it whenever asked for by Better Photography, after 15 November 2017.
Can I enter the same photo into multiple categories?
Yes, you can do that. However you need to ensure that your photographs represent the various contest categories well.
What are the other requirements to qualify as a nominee into the next round?
If you are selected, we need to authenticate your identity and your entry. For this purpose, you may be contacted by one of the members of the Better Photography team, and may be required to share identity proofs, original raw files, negatives or high resolution unedited jpegs. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
Can I send a CD containing my photos?
No, we are not accepting entries in the form of prints or on a CD. You can only submit your entries online, as uploads, or as youtube links.
I have a fantastic shot, but i'm not sure it really fits a theme. Should I still enter it?
By all means, go ahead. The themes of our contests are largely interpretative. As long as a photograph connects to a theme in some way, you can submit your entries.
How much image editing do you allow?
We recognise that digital photographs need some amount of post-processing to look their best. Hence, we will accept corrections or grading or enhancements for colours, contrast and brightness, and the use of filters or editing software. For stills, the creation of panoramas or cropping for impact is also acceptable.
Why do I need to be logged in to the site in order to submit a photo?
You need to log in before submitting the entries so that we can tag your entries with your profile. Your email id acts as a unique identifier for the contest.
How do I know that you've received my entry?
Once you've sent your entry, you can cross view it in your "upload your entries" page. If you can see it there, that means we have received it. With videos, this is just a link that we shall receive the minute you post it into the box.
Do I retain the copyright of my images?
Absolutely! Every entrant will retain copyrights of his/her image in the phase i. From phase ii onwards copyright will be jointly shared between the photographer and organisers. For details read t&c
When I submit an image to the photo contest, what rights does Better Photography have regarding my submission?
By entering your images into the competition, entrants agree to allow Better Photography, Network18 and Konica Minolta the rights to publish or display their photographs in print or electronic form in a future issue or issues of the respective publications, to use the pictures for editorial and promotional purposes without payment. The images will be reproduced with due credit to the photographers. This essentially means that your images may be exhibited, used for promoting the contest, or used for editorial and/or educational reasons. Your images will not be sold or misrepresented.
Are release forms required when submitting a photograph to the contest?
The entrant must be the sole creator of his/her images and must also own the copyrights and rights to reproduction of all pictures entered into the contest. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not Better Photography/ Network18 / Konica Minolta, to ensure that the publication of the photographs by Better Photography, Network18 or Konica Minolta does not raise any legal claims.
How old can my photograph be?
There are no restrictions regarding when the image has been shot, just that it must be shot by the participant uploading the images, and that they need to adhere to the submission requirements.
Will my entries be visible online to others?
No. This website only allows you to upload images. While you will be able to view your own entries, visitors of this website or other entrants will not be able to view your entries.
How will my photograph be judged?
Better Photography will appoint a panel of judges to determine the winning images. The parameters will include vision, composition, exposure, technique, message conveyed and the overall appeal of the image.
Will I be notified if my photo is chosen for the awards?
Award nominees will be announced and showcased in one of the future issues of Better photography. Keep following Better Photography’s website, Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on the same. You will also be notified by telephone and / or email. There is a possibility that you may be required to submit additional details like identification documents or original image files before you are selected as a nominee or winner. In this case, please ensure that you respond immediately.
I accidentally uploaded the wrong photo. Can I delete my entry and submit a new photo?
Once a photograph is uploaded, you cannot edit or delete it. So please be sure of your submissions. However, you can login multiple times to upload more entries photos in all themes till you've exhausted the limit of that theme.
I can't remember which photographs I've already submitted. Can you tell me which of my photographs you've received?
Once you upload a photograph, your entries will be visible in your “Upload your entries” page. You can click "upload your entries" and see your entries there.
