When photographer Ashish Parmar, a huge fan of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) cricket team heard about a contest to select the Chief Photographer for RCB, he jumped at the opportunity. Based on a public voting system on the RCB website, Ashish made it to the top nine and was called to Bengaluru for a final face-off challenge.
He bowled over judges Ray Jennings, the RCB coach and Captain Anil Kumble with his images. For him, this image (one of the three he submitted) the much-beaten red ball, the green pitch and the white shoes acting as a background signify the various religions present in India.
“It is an excellent example of how cricket, as a game, unites and eliminates all differences”, he says. Ashish has been shooting since the last 15 years and plans to hold an exhibition of the photographs he captures during the Indian Premier League matches.
