WPOY 2011: The Final Face-off in Malaysia

The Final Face-Off of the Kodak-Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 took our contestants to the beautiful island country of Malaysia, where they were given the theme Magical moments with the couple in Malaysia. Here is a look at the final submissions by each of the contestants.

For the final face-off, each contestant was given the task of photographing the wedding couple over five days, in nine shooting sessions.

Here is a look at the best images submit to Kodak-Better Photography Wedding Photographer of the Year 2011 from each theme.

The theme of the face-off was Magical Moments with the Wedding Couple in Malaysia. The finalists took pictures of the couple on beaches, against sunsets, and even during a fabulous island cruise on a beautiful yacht.

An Exciting Finish
After shooting against the beautiful and lush Malaysian backdrops, the contestants had to submit five photographs from each of the nine sessions as well as 20 images that highlighted the couple against the ambience of Malaysia. In Malaysia, the finalists spent photographing the wedding couple in Kuala Lumpur as well as Langkawi. A second part of the face-off involved the finalists creating an aesthetically pleasing photo album using the images they made during the face-off.

I believe the contest is for wedding photography..not “post wedding photography”..!!
Creating a setup shoot and making it cool depends on photographer, the couples’ ability to express emotions infront of camera and also, lots of equipments..!!

But capturing the candid moments during wedding entirely depends on photographer and to an extent ,his camera too..!!..the rush ,the available light, absence of hi fi equipments….all these r gonna play a huge role there..!!..and thats where the skill comes into play..!!.
Im no expert…No offense intended..jus ma 2 cents..!!

These are all fake Photographs. Beautiful Couples with perfect backgrounds and perfect lights. Not possible in real marriages where we have to steal the couple a portrait. Normally in enclosed places with little or no natural light.
