Better Photography is proud to announce a new Hindi edition of the magazine. As the leading photography magazine in the country for hobbyist photographers, we hope to reach out to a broader Hindi speaking audience with this new edition. The magazine was unveiled in New Delhi, India on 29 November 2011 at a cover price of Rs. 60 and will be the first nationally circulated photography magazine in India for a Hindi speaking audience.
In attendance for the event were Pablo Bartholomew, legendary photojournalist and two time winner of the World Press Photo Awards; Debatosh Sengupta, Director, Photo Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcast, GOI; Bandeep Singh, Photo Editor,Fortune India magazine; Neeraj Priyadarshi, Photo Editor, The Indian Express; Dr. Alka Pandey, Consultant, Curator, Art Advisor, India Habitat Center; Harish Tyagi, Chief photographer, Indian Subcontinent, European Pressphoto Agency; photojournalist and activist Ram Rahman; along with members of the Better Photography team including K Madhavan Pillai, Editor, Better Photography; Gurjender Singh Virdi, Executive Editor, Better Photography; & Sandeep Khosla, CEO publishing, Infomedia18 Ltd.
Also from the industry, were Jitendar Chug, Deputy General Manager sales and marketing, Nikon; Nitin Goyal, General Manager, Tamron Co. Ltd. (India); and other numerous photo industry stalwartsfrom Delhi.
Harish Tyagi complimented Better Photography on the initiative saying, “. As a regular reader of Better Photography in English, I am sure it will be nice to read photography tips and comments in one of our own languages from the best Indian photography magazine,” he said. Starting from the December 2011 issue, BP Hindi will be available in the beginning of every month on the newsstands. As a special introductory offer, the December, January and February issues will also carry our ever popular Secrets of Shooting Pocket Guides on people photography, wedding photography and nature photography in Hindi respectively.
Speaking to the media, editor K Madhavan Pillai said “With so much of emphasis placed on English media, I am absolutely thrilled that we are the first to launch a significant, nationally circulated monthly magazine on photography in Hindi. Photography is becoming an affordable hobby in India. It is an enjoyable, healthy and environment-friendly art, which does not differentiate between age and class.”
“Photography is the one language that breaks the barriers of the spoken or written word. It helps people ‘see’ the truth for what it is. I am very optimistic about the Hindi edition. With Hindi speaking audiences numbering more than the populations of many other countries and with smaller cities and towns fast becoming the primary growth drivers in consumer technologies, I believe that Better Photography Hindi will eventually go on to have more subscribers than our English edition,” he added.
Sandeep Khosla said that the company came to the decision to launch the Hindi magazine based on constant feedback received from hobbyist and amateur photographers across North India. “Better Photography Hindi will reach out to a huge market all over India, especially in the northern and central belt of the country.” Along with Overdrive Hindi, BP is now the second Hindi magazine to be launched by Infomedia18, the publishing arm of the Network18 group.
